Introducing the first ever Young Reporter Short Course

Happy New Year from us all at Young Reporter HQ!

Next Monday, 9 January, we are launching for the first time ever a Young Reporter Short Course for schools who have never taken part in the Young Reporter Scheme before.

A lot of schools showed interest in our scheme this year, but were unable to commit for the full eight months. As a result, we launched the Short Course, which runs from January to April and gives students in years 10-13 a chance to experience what it's like to be a real journalist, for a shorter period.

At the end of the course, they will receive a Letter of Recognition for taking part, as long as they have uploaded four articles across the four month period, within the deadlines set. They are only required to write one article of around 250 words each month to complete the course.

Students upload their articles onto the Newsquest Media Group’s online newspapers and will upload the same way our real journalists do, so it is a great experience for them.

The deadline to sign up has been extended to 13 January 2023. The earlier you sign up, the quicker we can get your students to attend an online mentoring session and they can then start working on their first article.

If you are interested in taking part, please email info@youngreporter.co.uk
